The January meeting of the Washburn Chapter of D. A. R. was heP Tuesday. January 17, at 7:30 with Mrs. W. R. Hutcheson assisted by Mrs. N. L. Hammond. Mrs. Louis Hays and Mrs. Ora Meek. The Regent, Mrs. Raymond R Neal, opened the meeting and the Chaplain, Miss Carrie Pierce, led in prayer and the singing of the Star Spangled Banner. Miss Edith Browning gave a brief report on the finding of the National Defense Commission of Federal Aid to education In which the Commission was opnosed to any aid except loans to be repaid by the states. Mrs. Walter Evans reported on the J Museum and Art fund and Miss Minnetta Wright explained courses in home nursing and first aid that are being offered by the Red Cross. Miss Carrie Pierce announced the winners of the P. A. R Good Citizenship contest as Margaret Ann Spencer of Russellville who won first place:

The Groveland Homemakers Heme Demonstration Club met at the home of Mrs. Walter Stelzner on an. 12th at 1 p. m. with ten members and three children present. The meeting was opened by the president, Mrs. Harold Ryland leading the group in the Flag salute. Mrs. Stelzner gave the history of the song of the month after which all the members joined in singing the song. The business meeting was spent in appointing committees and lesson training leaders and planning our program books for the new club year. Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the church basement for approximately 60 relatives and friends of the couple. The reception table was centered with a three-tiered wedding cake, decorated with pink roses, blue bells, and white doves, and topped with a miniature hr ide and gr oom. Eileen Hester and Lenna- Jones of Indianapolis, and Eleanor McGaughey of Russellville, all sisters of the bride, presided at the reception table. The guests were registered by Martha Hester. The parents of the couple are Mrs. Rose Hester of West Lafayette, and Mr. and Mrs. Albert Luper of Lebanon. Guests were present from Indianapolis, Kirkland. Lebanon, West Lafayette, Buck Creek, Fillmore. Waveland ,and Russell-
