CLAWiNG CUBS DEFEATED BY TALL GARFIELD

A tall and efficient band of Purple Eagles held a clawing pack of Tiger Cubs at bay Wednesday night as Terre Haute Garfield downed Greencastle, 76 to 69, in the local gymnasium. It was the superior height of the visitors that told the story in about as interesting a high school basketball game as fans have seen here this season. Coach Tom Goldsberry’s net tossers were a threat all the way and outscored the Eagles in the second half by 41 points to ,'!9. Gai field held a nine-point advantage at halftime, 37 to 28. The visitors controlled the majority of the rebounds at both ends of the hardwood court and accounted for several tip-in baskets due to their added reach un-

der the hoops.

Jumping into a 6-2 lead as the first quarter got underway, the Terre Haute boys then held a

five-point edge, 19-14, opening eight minutes.
