Early, Jr., has purchased the recently erected residence of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Gruenholz on the Cemetery Road. Mr. and Mrs. Gruenholz and family will make their future home in Hudson, N. Y. Prof. Early is associate ! with the Political Science Dept, of DePauw University. Robert Wayne Leak, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robo t R. Leak, Roachdale R. 2, and George Lee Steward, son of Emma B. Mickf els, Bainbridge R. 1, were the I first two applicants to apply for j the Hoosier Company in the state of Indiana, from this district. The Hoo»ier Company will depart for the U. S. Naval Training Center at Great Lakes, on Dec. 28, where they will under go recruit training.

Mrs. Robert Woodson left today for her home in Vestal, New York, after visiting Mrs. Thomas Woodson. Mrs. Thomas Wooc:son accompanied her home to spend the holidays. Mr. and Mra. Kenneth West have received void of the birth of a son to Dr. and Mrs. Charles A. West, 3143 South Barrington, Apt. E. Los Angeies 66, Calif. The baby was born Friday morning. Dr. West is instructor in the graduate school at U. C. L. A.

TOSSES HAT IN KING INDIANAPOLIS, Dec. 9.— (UP) Dr. B. W. Johnson, executive secretary of the Indiana State Teachers’ Retirement Fund, has tossed his hat into the ring for the office of State Supt. of Public Instruction. The post now is held by fellow Republican Wilbur Young. Johnson is a former dentist, teacher and supt. of school. He also served tw r o tenns in the General Assembly, in 1951 and. 1953.

Sorority Has Initiation, Annual Inspection Active members of the Delta Theta Tau sorority and alumnae members met Wednesday evening Dec. T, in the DePauw Union Building f6r initiation service and annual inspection. Dinner was served to the group prior to the evening's program. Mrs. Robert F. Shinier became a new r member in the very impressive ritualistic service. The final event was the regular business meeting and inspection by the National President, Mrs. Russell Fair of Bloomington.

IN FAIR CONDITION NEW CASTLE, Ind. Dec. 9 — ( UP) Omer Conley, 21. Shirley, was in Henry County Hospital in “fair” condition today from lifle wounds suffered Thursday when he pulled a gun through a fence while hunting.

Maple Heights Club .Met December 6th

The Maple Heights Home Demonstration Club met Friday, Dec. 6 at the club house with Mrs. Iva Hammond and Mrs. Kenneth Byrd as hostess and co-hostess. The meeting was opened by the president, Mrs. Kenneth Byrd. The flag salute and club creed were repeated in unison and song of the month was sung. Twenty members and three guestfe enjoyed a delicious turkey dinner at a beautifully appointed table. A gift exchange was held and the revealing of secret pals. Gifts were presented to 100', members, Mrs. Ruby Weaver, Mrs. Louise McKamey Mrs. Alice Alexander and Mrs. Marie Nagley. The door prize was won by our guest, Mrs. Pearl Chadd. Other guests were Mrs. Molly McCammack, and Mrs.

Virginia Bowers.

During the business meeting installation of new officers was given by Miss El nel Schachtel with Mrs. Ruby Weaver, president, Mrs. Ruth Fry, vice president; Mrs. Irene Crawley, treasurer and Mrs. Marie Nagley, secretary. Mrs. Betty Burks was appointed safety leader and Mrs. Lot t o Lane, song leader.

Old and new business was discussed and it was voted 1.0 buy a T.B. bond and a donation to the Salvation Army. Discussion was held to help &• needy family throughout the year. Plans were made for a family Christinas dinner to be held D’c. 18. Meeting adjourned with the club prayer. DePauw Couple To Be .Married In Memphis Miss Suzanne Johnson will become the bride of Stephen T. Early, Jr. at 4:00 o’clock on the afternoon of December 30th in Memphis, Tenn. The wedding will take place at the home of the parents of the bride elect. Miss Johnson, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn A. Johnson, is assistant circulation librarian at DePauw University. Mr. Early, the son of Mrs. Stephen T. Early of Washington, D. C„ is a professor in the Political Science Department at DePauw' University.
