Mrs. Trammell is the former Norma Bennett. Mrs. Dorothy Compton will represent Putnam county at State Home Economics meeting on Saturday, Dec. 3. The meeting is to be held at the State House in Indianapolis. Maple Heights Home Demonstration Club wil meet Tuesday at the club house at 7:00 p. m. Members are asked to bring an exchange gift and a covered dish for the pitch-in dinner. Mrs. Elaine Bennett left Tuesday to join her husband, Leon Bennett until he is discharged from the Navy. Mr. Bennett has been at sea since April. He is stationed in Norfolk, Va., Mrs. Bennett is the former Elaine Pitts. Word has been received of the sudden death of Mrs. Agnes Matkin in Clinton, Ind. Mrs. Matkin lived for many years on East Washington street She was the wife of the late William Matkin. The daughter, Margaret, surviv-

—STRIKERS 5. Some UAW men disliked terms of the contract and some protested the company’s refusal to rehire seven workers accuse i of “improper conduct." One of them was Carl Batchfield. president of the union local. He named Virgil Worley as acting president to meet with company officials and discuss the back-to-work movement. Company officials, who plan double shifts to absorb the returning men. said 15 have asked to return so far. Meanwhile, two charges of unfair labor practices were file 1 with the National Labor Relations Board. The union said Perfect Circle was “unfair” in refusing to rehire 19 strikers at its Hagerstown plant and seven at a Richmond plant.
