GOSPEL uf CHRIST “IF CHRIST HATH NOT BEEN RAISED"

In denying the bodily Resurrection of .1 SUS. ml substituting some kind of spiritual resurrection,” or “resurrection of the cause of Jesus,” modern “ration tli-m" is confronted with difficult problems. Let us face the facts squarely: the Bible affirms the phvsical Resurrection of Jesus Christ; is the claim true or is it false? This is the issue. The question, “What difference (iocs it niflRp. so loner 9s morHlitv of Jesus is taught ?" is clearly answered by Paul in I Corinthians 15:12-19. He sots forth five fundamenta’s of Christi.initv which rest upon the Resurrection for Un : validity Consider them on.fully. “If Christ hath not been raised— I. “Then is our preachirg vain.” M hy. some ne asks. Because the Resurrect>on of Jesus is the heart of the gospel il Cor. 15:1-4 i; “He was delivered up for our trespasses, and was raised for our justifk.itJon" (Rom. 4:25). The Resurrection is th > proof of Jesus’ Lor<fsh p, “who was d dared to be the Sun of G • 1 with power . . .“by the resurrection from the dead- even Jesus Christ our Lord" tRom. 1:4). If th-re is no Resu rect <~n. the message is robbed of its life: it is a dead message. A de^J Chi st could never provide a living massage.

issue that could arise. If, however, they are to be believed on this point, they must be believed on every point. On the Resurrection of Christ the whole of divine authority rests. 3. “Your faith is vain.” The faith of a Christian is faith in the Christ whom God raised, not merely in a "good man.” He wh- se faith is not in a r sen Christ cannot claim to be a Christian. He may be a mo al man. but he is NOT a CHRISTIAN. Christ’s claims, promises, and appeals to the human family were a hollow mockery if “death ends al .” Faith rests upon testimony, testimony is true or fal-e according to its faithfulness to facts. If the fact never occurred. the testimony is false; if the testimony is fals a . “your faith is vain." 4. “Ye are yet in your sins.” Apart from the Resuirecticn of Jesus Christ there is no remiss on of sins. True, the blood was shed for the remission of sins (Matt. 26:28), out in the Resurrect on God confirmed the c’aim that He was “the Lam.b of God. that taketh away the sin of the world.” vs. 17. 5. You are without hope. “They they also that are fallen asleep in Christ have perished.” Without the Resurrection. theie is no hope; the future is dark, life is a bewildering maze of uncertainty. with only the dark abyss of deith and despair before all. The heartbroken soul who followed the body of a loved one to its final resting place, and turned away cheered by the hope of a Resun ection. is mocked, cruelly mocked by the colossal blunder of the age. a wo d that claimed to erme from God. but deceived.
