Reid Winsey were the week end guests of their son, Peter, in Hanover. Young Winsey is a freshman a. Hanover College. Dr. and Mrs. V. Earle Wiseman are in Chicago attending the conveTition of the American College of Surgeons. They will return on Friday. Robert Askew of Detroit was a visitor here over the week end. His mother. Mrs. Horace Askew, is a patient at the Culver Hospital in Crawfordsville. Pvt. and Mrs. Avery T. Anderson and Mrs. Anderson’s mother, Mabel Marshall Mann, are visiting here from San Francisco, Calif., in the J. R. Anderson home. Miss Clara Mabb was an afternoon caller. Mabel Marshall Mann spent the week end in the Alfred Martin home, also her brothers Clarence and Don Marshall. Leaving here Mabel will go to spend the winter with a sister, Ruby Marshall Lawson, 16800 Denker, Cardenia, Calif. Amor j those who attended the Notre Dame and Navy game Saturday at South Bend were, Pete Goode, Bob Brown, James Hill and John Brackney. They reported a 29 degree temperature and a drizzling rain but the game was w T ell worth seeing.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Hirt II. of Greencastle R. 2, and the brideg!oom is the son of Mrs. Lois Wampler, Gosport R. 1. Se veral bridal selections, “Becau ,e,” "I Love You Truly,” a .1 the traditional w’edding marches, were played. ' Dr. Oiville Davis read the v’ows of the double ring ceremony. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a white cashi re wool gown and carried a ..bile Bibie topped with wdiite : v and streamered ivy. The matron of honor, Mrs. Willi,:: .i R. Newkirk, sister of the bride, wore a midnight blue paper taffeta gown and carried a bouquet of yellow feathered mums. Donald Wampler, brother of the bridegroom, was best man. Mrs. Hirt was attired in a coffee late dress and wore a cor sage of orchid feathered mums. The bridegroom’s mother wore a blue wool dress and a corsage of pink carnations. Immediately following the ceremony a reception was held in the home. Tne fireplace was decorated with fugi mums arid ivy, and silver- candlesticks. The punch table was decorated with a mum centerpiece, ivy and silvercandlesticks. The three tiered all white wedding cake was topped with a wedding bell. Boucuets of fall flowers were ari anged throughout the home. Thee ouple left on a wedding tiip through the Smokey Mts. For traveling the bride chose a biege suit and wore a white rose corsage. Mr. and Mrs. Wampler will reside at 212 Soutn College Ave., in Greencastle. The bride is a gr aduate of the Greencastle High School and the Methodist School of Nursing and is employed as industrial nurse at IBM. The bridegroom graduated from the Fr anklin Township high school, attended the University of Tennessee, served two years with tne army and is employed as a sub-contractor for Downey and Sons, of Indianapolis. Out of town guests attending the wedding were Mr. and Mrs. Luther B. Watson, Greenwood: Mr. and Mrs. Don Wampler, Indianapolis; Tom Wampler, California; Mrs. Mary Wampler and Mrs. J. Wampler, of Gosport.

Mr. and Mrs. Benson Entertained With Party A Hallowe'en party was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. O. Fl. Benson and family, of Bainbridge. Monday evening. The room was decorated with Halloween paper and colored lanlerns. Pumpkin pie was served to the guests, Mr. and Mrs. Goodshurn, and two sons, Roger and James Junior, of Fillmore. The party lasted until 11 p. m.

Putnamville WSCS Met October 27 The Putnamville W.S.C.S. met Thursday, Oct. 27 at the church. The meeting was opened by the Fiesident, Opal Jackson by all singing. " When Love Shines In’’ followed by prayer by Mrs. Rose Sublett. We had as guests 16 members of the Cloverdale W.S.C.S., who with members of our society were introduced by BernicLewis. We were favored by a special song ‘‘Sweeter as the Years Go By” by the Cloverdale group. Mrs. Ardella Day read a very interesting and carefully prepared history of the Putnamville W. S. C. S. whose 15th anniversary we were celebrating. The Ladies Aid, as it was form erly known, was organized on Nov. 30, 1898 by eight women at the suggestion of Mrs. Nora Garner. In 1900 there were 18 members, only two of whom are still living: Mrs. Mary Peck of Greencastle and Mrs. Nell Warner of Columbus, Ohio. Sept. 11, 1940 at the home of Mrs. John Gray the name was changed to Women’s Society of Christian Service or W.S.C.S. Mrs. Willa Bowers was president at that time, and continued in office untill Sept, of 1944. Since then there have been six presidents: Mrs. Julia Haggerty, Esther Friend, Georgia- Sublett, Essie Boyd, Shirley Schafer and our present president. Opal Jackson. She told in detail of the achievejnents in making money and contributing to the local church as well as other causes. She expiessed the wish that we have many more years of pleasant associations together. Devotions were given by Helen Elmore and the lesson on The American Indians and their place in our national life by Mrs. Essie Boyd. Mrs. Harley Benson and Mrs. Hallie Sipple sang a duet” Dear to the Heart of the Shepherd.” Some favorite Bible verses w-ere quoted by our guests. A special offering was taken for

Martha Washington Club Celebrates Anniversary Thirty members of the Martha Washington Club attended the forty-second anniversary dinner at the Boots ’N Saddle recently. All enjoyed the delicious meal. Following the dinner the group went to the home of Mrs. George Garrett, South Indiana street, where Mr. and Mrs. James Wilde showed slides of the Cypress Islands, which were very interesting to all.

Mr. and Mrs. David M. Scott and children left today for Columbia, Mo. Mrs. Scott and children will visit ner parents, M„\ and Mrs. Fred L. Spees, and Mr. Scott will spend the week in St. Louis on business.
