Bulldogs Stop Old Gold. 18-7

DePamv’s three-game winning streak was shattered last Saturday in Indianapolis when Butler took an Indiana Collegiate Conference contest, 13-7. Favored to defeat the Bulldogs for the first time since 1926. Mike Snavely’s crew r spotted Butler a two-touchdown lead in the first half ard never jelled enough to overcome the deficit. Bearing little resemblance to the team which dumped Valpo on the preceding Saturday, DcPauw xave up the ball twice on fumbles and four times on intercepted passes. The Bengals now have a 3-3 lecord for the season and a 2-3 mark in the conference. In five ernes with ICC opponents, Butler has won three and lost two. Fullback Leroy Thompson carried 18 times for the Bulldogs and picked up 104 of the Bull iogs’ 212 net yards rushing. Tops for DePauw was halfback Art

| Brvatit with 77 yards in 11 carties. The Bengals had 13 first downs to nine for Butler but were ineffective close to the Butler goal. Fullback Fred Williams, one of the offensive standouts, scored DePauw's only TD on a 10-yard run. After Butler had moved to a 12-0 lead at halftime on touchdowns by Thompson and Norm Wilson, Wi’liams cut the margin to five points with his six-pointer and conversion near the end of the third quarter. The Bulldogs’ clincher came in the final period when Johnny Brown squirted through the DePauw line for seven yards and the third Butler tally.

Tiger Runners Defeat Wabash

With a pair of freshmen showing the way, DePauw ran off with a 22-34 cross-country decision over Wabash Saturday in Crawfordsville. The Tigers' Ron Young finished on top in 18:04 for the mile course, and a fellow firstyear harrier. Bill Bla-ke took third in 18:10. In racking up their fifth straight victory, Coach Bob Harvey's runners accounted for five of the first seven places.

“BROWN JUG" JITTERS

The second and fourth spots went to Van Horn and Skaggs of »Wabash, with Van Horn only two seconds behind Young and Skaggs one second ahead of DePauw’s Gerry Herrmann. Completing the Bengals’ scoring were Dick Hershberger, sixth, and Duane Osburn, seventh. Saturday's victory gave DePanw a 1955 record of five wins and a single loss, inflicted by Ball State in the opener. Final dual meet will be run against Wabash here Saturday between halves of the DeParuwBeloit football game, and the Little State-ICC competition is booked for Indianapolis Nov. 4.

By Margaret Latrohe It you are going to England and want to take along a present for a Britisher—take a hand-war-mer. Something to bring back circulation in the pinkies while watching television, old boy. It’s no mystery why tweeds and three-ply knit goods are so popular in Britain.
