Mr. and Mrs. General Osborne jwill leave Fridf for a motor trip to San Diego, alif., to get their daughter and husband and baby who have just arrived from Tokyo Japan. Rev. Virgil Baugh of Martinsville, will preach at New Providence church, Sunday, Aug. 28th, both morning and evening services. Everyone is welcome to attend. Miss Laura Boardman returned Tuesday evening after spending a few weeks in Mt. Sterling, Ovingsvijle, Carlisle, Paris. West Liberty and Augusta, Kentucky, where ' as historian of the national organization of the Richard Hazelrigg family association, she did research on various lines of this well known old Virginia and Kentucky family, colonists and pioneers of both states. Mr. and Mrs. Shelby Abbott and family entertained the following guests for dinner Friday evening: Major Woodrow Abbott, wife and son from Washington D. C.. Mrs. Joana Gallup of Hqhywood. Florida; Mr. and Mrs. Forest Detro and family. Evening callers were Mr. and Mrs. General Osborne, Chas. and Wanda from Indianapolis and Donnie Baldwin.

The Putnam County Home Demonstration Chorus will meet for rehearsal Monday, Aug. 29, 1:30 DST. in Fellowship HaH of the Ch’ istian church. All members who want to sing at the State Fair, Sept. 4th, be at this rehearsal. Dr. Harold Fostage of Action, has located in Roachdale in the offices of Dr. Gwaltney who has gone to Florida. He reports finding everything in the community that he needs, with the exception of a pulmotor, which will be added tot he town’s life saving facilities in the near future, it has been stated. Mr. and Mrs. Eston Cooper and daughter, Deanna, accompanied by Carolyn Baird, have returned home from a motor trip to Portsmouth, N. H. where they visited their son, Doyne. They traveled by the way of Detroit, Mich., through Canada to Niagara Falls and then to the East Coast. While there they visited several eastern states and cities, New York City, Washington D. C. and several others. Mi .and Mrs. William Bergmann will leave this week end to leturn to their home in Tulsa, Okla.,, after a few days visit with Dr. and Mrs. Frederick L. Bergmann and family. Miss Josephine Bergmann, who has been visiting in the Bergmann home for the past few days, will return to her home in Washington, D. C. TV Station WTTV. Bloomington, has asked the Federal Communications Commisison for permission to put up the nation’s tallest television tower—1,649 feet. The station, owned by Sarke Tarzian, electronics manufactu - er, also asked permission i a move its transmitter from a site near Cloverdale in Putnam county to a new location near Trafalgar, 20 miles south of Indianapolis. At present, WTTV operates c:. Channel 4 with a 1,000-foot tower. A recent FCC ruling allows stations in the area where WTTV operates to have towers 1,250 feet high without reduction of their power.

Club Council Met Monday Afternoon The Putnam County Home Demonstration Club Council met Monday afternoon, August 22, in the community room of the Public Service Company with 46 presidents and vice presidents, and seven executive board members present. Officers of the new club Manhattan Homemakers were introduced. Mrs. Dorothy Sears led the group in singing. Plans were made and discussed for the Achievement Day to be held October 26th. Mrs. Paul McKeehan, presi*dsfiL: Mrs. Roy Johnson, 2nd vice president; Mrs. Laffel Goss, treasurer and Mrs. Dorothy Sears all gave most interesting reports of the Summer Conference held at Purdue University in June.

Mrs. Omer Reeves Hostess To Club The West Madison Homo Demonstration Club met Wednesday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Omer Reeves, with 17 members and three children present The president, Mrs. Everett Ellis, presided over the business session. The lesson “Citizenship and You” was very ably presen ed by Mrs. Ivan Ruark, assisted by Mrs. Emory Biattain. A report of the Summer Conference at Purdue and the County Fair exhibit was given by Mrs. Wendell Thomas. The next meeting will be Sept 28 at the home of Mrs. Willard Singleton.

The action was filed by the Bissel Carpet Sweeper Co., Grand Rapids, Mich, which ap- j pealed a decision handed down by Marion Superior Judge Hezzie Pike last June 28. The ruling was on Bissel’s suit against the Shane Co., Ind-* | ianapolis, charging it sold sweep- 1 ers below fair trade prices. Pike issued a temporary in- i dissolved it and declared the junction against Shane, then law unconstitutional.

Myers Reunion Hold August 21 The Myers reunion was held Sunday, Aug. 21 at Robe Ann Park. Everyone enjoyed a delicious dinner at noon time.
