A pottery tablet containing the first verse of the Book of Genesis in more than 40 languages has been encased in the cornerstone of an office building being built in Cincinnati by The Proctor and Gamble Company. Designed to give future archeologists and language scholars a key to 20th century civilization, ft is believed that repetition of the same words in many languages will permit the deciphering of tongues which may be lost or forgotten hundreds of thousands of years from now. In addition to English, languages on the tablet range from modern French, German, and Spanish to classical Hebrew. Greek and Latin and such unfamiliar tongues as Sonskrit, Tagalog, Swahili and Urdu.

“Life grows by outreach: the first basic obligation of the home is to be a place where ail individuals find outreach — whether to their physical or to their human environment—a rewarding and confident experience,” Dr. Harry A. Overstreet, psychologist and counsellor, recently told a group of church leaders. “Life grows by individuation: the home must be a place where each individual has a chance to become a structured self; that is, a human being who becomes what he has it in him to be. Life grows by participation: the home, therefore, should be a center where each person experiences the give and take of shared hope and effort. Life grows by appreciation, there are always more things in the environment than can be responded to, or should be responded to. One aspect of growing up, therefore, is that of learning what is important and admirable. Life grows by creation; every new person who. conies into the world is potentially a bringer of the new. The home must be a place that embodies the attitude of ‘Let there be’—something better than was there before. Life grows by adjustment to limitations: at each stage of life there is the need to live understandingly with that which has not been chosen or wanted but which has come to pass. Life grows by upreach: the home must be a place where all members of the family experience the up-puli of that which is immeasurably greater than themselves.
