Easing heartily of (and such Elizabethan feasting makes me almost ill) “chuck roast, potatoes, carrots, cottage cheese, peanut butter, pancakes likely as not buckwheat with heavy syrup aboard),. . . . and other nourishing, low-priced foods.” “We ate good,” commented Mrs. Lloyd, at the end of this epicurean gobbling. And she said

The final blow was the admission that neither this young lady nor her spouse “lost an ounce.” Well, for Pete’s sake—no! This kind of banquetting is for the fat and frugal. Only they can save enough to live in future affluence. And the sequel to affluence is that immediately the exaltation of vacations, new clothes and such brings thoughts of dieting. With dieting comes proteins. No more peanut butter snnd-
