Fire Desiroys Popular Lodge CORYDOX. Ind.. Aug. 15 — (UP)—Firemen today investigated a 5150.000 fire that destroyed the Wyandotte Cave Lodge west of here, forcing 50 guests to flee. No one was injured in the Sunday blaze which raged out of control before firemen from Corydon could get to the isoiat . inn located in a hilly section near the Ohio River. The adjacent home of the lodge manager. Samuel Riely, a!- j o was destroyed, but firemen prevented the flames from spreading to the nearby woods. Corydon Fire Chief Louis Jones said the blaze may have started in one of the rooms, but the cause was not immediately determined. The lodge and manager’s home were destroyed w hin an hour after the blaze had broken out. The lodge was bulit a few years ago on the site of a previ us lodge which also ■was defrayed by fire. Frank Rothrocl:, j Seattle, Wash., owned the lodge.

Mrs. Lenoard Nichols has returned home from the Putnam county hospital. Mrs. Erret Shaw has returned from a vacation in San Fran cisco and Los Angeles, Calif. Dr. and Mrs. Morris Gross have left for their home in Lawrence, Kansas after visiting the former’s mother, Mrs. John Gross and friends. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Cline, Belle Union left Saturday for a two weeks vacation in Yellowstone Park, Black Hills and other points in the west. Richard Friend left Yesterday for Camp Miniwanca, at Stony Lake, Mich., where he will attend the Amer ican. Youth Foundation camp for two weeks. August meeting of Franklin Township Farm Bureau was held Aug. 9 in the Roachdale Library basement. The business meeting, presided over by Oral Whitley, was opened with the song, ‘ Onward Christian Soldiers." Due to the absence of the secretary the minutes of the July meeting were not read.however bills were presented and allowed and a county meeting was announced for Aug. 26 with David Grimes principle speaker. A youth chorus of ten voices, cirected by Ellen Purcell, sang four numbers including. Tick Tock, In the Heart of a Little Child, Safe in Our Shepherd’s Care and Jesus Was a Wonderful Saviour. J. Walter Thompson of Crawfordsvilie, our district director, gave a most interesting and enlightning talk on the growth and development of the Farm Bureau with emphasis on the last eighteen years. About forty-five members including families were served home made ice cream and cake. The cakes were judged by the 4-H girls. First, second and j third prizes were awarded to I both white and dark butter cakes. The white cake winners were, 1st., Mrs. McFarlan; 2nd., Mrs. Curran, and 3rd., Geneva

Young.

The first prize for dark cake went to Karen Harney; 2nd., to Mrs. Harbison and 3rd., to Mrs.

Hayes.

The first prizes were Nylon hose, 2nd., prize was table mats .and 3rd., piizes were coasters.

A quantity of ice tea and lemon ade was prepared by the committee. In the afternoon the meeting was called to order by the President Joseph Off of Indianapolis. The minutes of the previous meeting was read and approved. The treasurer’s report was read and accepted. The president appointed the following nomina - mg committee to name officers for next year: Frank Gideon and Waneta McMains. They reported the following: President, Ward Arnold, Vice President Cecil E. Arnold; Sec. Worth Arnold and Treasurer Wanda Miller. At the close of the meeting, the refreshment committee, com sisting of Ward Arnold anu Cecil E. Arnold served DixieCups. The meeting closed with singing of “God Be With You ’Till We Meet Again.” Those from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Off of Indianapolis, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph .Arnold and daughter Cindy Sue of Danville, Indiana.

Heady Reunion Held At Robe-Ann Park The annual Heady reunion was held at the Robe Ann Park on Sunday, Aug. 7th with 53 relatives and friends present. The morning was spent in visiting and a-t the noon hour a bountiful dinner was served after Sam Heady returned thanks.
