TINTED WINDSHIELDS CUT VISIBILITY AT NIGHT
GtlRS! r,FT$ CHANGE W SPEAK
LOS ANGELES— (UP)—Dr. Heinze Haber of the University of California’s institute of transportation and traffic engineering reports that tests show night visibility is cut as much as 45 per cent by colored glass in auto windshields. The tinted glass does not keep out much daytime glare either, he said, and its cmy significant advantage is in keeping out the soil’s heat rays on a warm day.

The bidding: North East South West 1 y Dbl. 1 A Pass 2 A Pass 3 A Past 4 A AH Pass He was smiling slyly when this hand came up. His partner led the jack of diamonds and he cashed the ace, king and queer. He then shifted to the queen of clubs and dummy’s king won At this point he asked: “What’s trumps ?” Mr. Champion snorted at the delay. “We don’t have to tell ymi that,” he growled. PLAYERS’ RIGHTS But on prompting from Mr. Muzzy, Mr. Judge read clause 43
of the laws which says that any player is entitled to be inform- • ed what the contract is and 4 ' whether or not. by whom, it was j doubled or redoubled. So Mr. Champion gave in and : stated that the contract was J four spades, not doubled. Mr. Muzzy wasn’t through yet. ! “Just a mintfte," he said, “rend clause 44. will you. Judge?" Mr. Judge complied and Mr. Muzzy grinned triumphantly. He had ! made a point. Clause 44 required dummy to put the trumps to his right. Mr. Champion had followed the practice of many players by laying the suits down in no particular order. Here he had placed the trumps to his left. Reluctantly he changed them over. But he had the last word. “What will you do, Muzzy, when dummy is out of trumps?” he asked. A NICE PI .AY’ Mr. Abel made four spades by a nice play. Figuring Mr. Muzzy for the king of hearts by reason of his takeout double, he avoided the heart finesse. He played the are of hearts from dummy at trick five, then cashed all of his spades. Dummy’s last three cards were the queen of hearts and the are-ten of chibs. Mr. Muzzy had the king of hearts and the jack-five of clubs. Mr. Abel had left the jack of hearts, the nine of clubs and a trump. He led the* trump, disrarding the queen of hearts from the board. Mr. Muzzy was squeezed. To throw the heart woidd make Mr. Abel’s jack good. He dropped a club, hut Mr. Abel led a club and went tip with the ace in dummy, dropping the jack and making the ten good for the game-going triek.
