Young Bandit Eludes Dragnet
FORT WAYNE. Ind . Jun. 27 i UP i A young bandit who •luded a po’ice dragnet after hooting and critically wounding i Yy-yeai old grocery store ownr during a holdup attempt was he object of an intensive police earch here today. Police said William H. Selby as attacked as ne got out of his ar in front ol his home late . uesday. They said the bandit pparently knew Selby was in the sabit of carrying his day's re_ipts home with him in a satchel. Selby told authorities from hs bed at Parkview Memorial ospital that a masked youth rabbed for the money bag, and uring a tussle he was shot in iie chest at point blank range, .elby said the youth fled and he dragged himcelt to his home where he collapsed. Detective Capt. Mitchell Cleveand said Seioy told him ht bought the youth was about 17 r 18 years old. and was armed /ith a .32 caliber pistol. Squack f police were rushed to the area •ml no trace of the gunman were ound.
