Tigers Defeat Hanover, 82-72
DePauw’s Tigers downed a scrapping Hanover basketball squad, 82 to 72, Saturday night in Bowman gym. It was the seventh victory in 11 starts for the Old Gold and the fourth setback in nine games for the visiting Panthers. DePauw held a 22 to 19 lead at the end of the opening eight minutes but the Hanover netters came back in the second period to forge ahead. 36 to 34. at halftime. The contest continued close until the Tigers grabbed tire advantage at 46-44 on a field goal by Ron McCammack late in the third frame. DePauw was never headed after that and Coach Bob Harvey’s basketeers went on to win by a 10-point margin, 82 to
72.
Bob Schrier led DePauw with 10 baskets in 19 attempts and a pair of charity tosses for 22 points. John Morris starred for
Hanover with 28.
