STRIKE IS SETTLED ELWOOD. Ind„ Jan. <> (UPl Full-scale production was expected to be resumed Thursday at the Continental Can Co. plant here following settlement of a five-week strike against the firm with 33 factories across the nation. The walkout affected 142 workers here, and 14.500 CIO steelworkers at other plants operated by the company. A similar strike against the American Can Co. • ith Indiana plants at Austin. Indianapolis and Terre Haute, continued. However, union sources believed the American agreement, which included a package increase of 15 cents an hour, might set the pattern for settlement of the continental strike.
