Colllver, President of the Fifth District Federation of Clubs called the meeting to order at 9:15 Mrs H R Nixon of Newport led the group in giving the pledge of allegiance and Mrs Raymond Townsley of Terre Haute then led in repeating the club collect. Devotions were eonducled by Mis. Osborne Hutchens of Roaehdaie. who lead the Thanksgiving psalm and gave a very inspiring message followed by a brief prayer. Miss Boatright, as winner in iast years music contest was awarded a 2 weeks scholarship to the Egytian Music Camp at Diiquoin. Illinois. She explained in a very charming manner what schedule she followed there, and exprassed her appreciation foi the award with its wonderful advantages in fine music work. Mrs Mahoney announced this year's winner will receive twe week course in the music school at Indiana University. Miss Boatright played for us the piano si lections which won for her in last year's contest. Mrs Victor Selby. President of tin Indiana Federation of Chibs in her address. "Fedora tion a Reality" summed up‘tin power welded by women’s clubs united In Federation. Mr. Gillespie of Allison’s, Indianapolis, outlined the dangei he felt were in the socialistic trend in government operation Mrs. Eugene Cooper, North Salem, in honoring oui members deceased this past year lighted candles of memory, representing each county of the district. Her poem of tribute was the beautiful, "Crossing The Bar", by Tennyson. The nominating committee presented a slate of officers for those positions to be filled this year. They were duly elected md the following officers will serve for the ensuing term of two years the 5th District I F C. President, Mrs John Fortner of Rockville, Parke County; 1st Vice President. Mrs. J. M
Jones, Newport, Vermillion County; 3rd Vice President. Mrs. Marion Presscr. of Putnam County; and Treasurer Mrs. R, D. Lumpkins. Hendricks County. Mrs. W. H. Pickel of North Salem was endorsed by the 5th District Federation as a candidate fo.- the office of Recording Secretary of the Indiana Feder ation of Clubs. The election fothis office will take place at thi next convention of the stati Federation. Putnam County Federatior with the greatest number o members present was awarde the attendance prize. Mrs. Colliver presented t* Mrs. A. K Higgins, President o Putnam County Federation, lovely miniature replica of th L (jetty Dell. This was in recog nition of her successful cffoi in raising $100 for the G. K. W (’. project of the Restoration o Independence Hall. Mrs. Higgins accepted 11 fo a treasured permanent posses ■-ion of the 1 Putnam County Fed eration. She stated the worl done was not due to any indi vidual but was a concerted co operative drive by every mem her of the Putnam County Fed .•ration of Clubs. It was thn ooperation the money \va earned and thus placed the Put lam County Federation, the first county Federation in Indiana tv he eligible for a place on the roll of honor plaque at Independence
Hall.
