Four new missionaries l y th,' name of Lowry are getting ready to go to South Ameriea early in 1954. The first two of the quartet were accepted for service by the Board of Missions of the Methodist Church this year: the Kev. David T. Lowry, of Dallas, Texas, and his wife, Mary Sue Hart Lowry, M. D.. of the staff of Parkland Hospital, Dallas. The second two are identical twin sons recently born to the Lowrys at the Hospital where the mother is a resident in pediatrics Car! Hart Lowry and Paul Ward Lowry. Next year the Lowry
Quartet will sail for Bolivia where Mr. Lowry and Dr. Lowry will unite their skills to serve the physical and spiritual need.uf the vast neglected Indian population in the hinterland.

Dr. David E. Lindatrom, rural expert from Urbuna, 111., who is giving some years of service in the organization of a department of rural work at the International Christian University, Tokyo, •Japan, is the director of the University's new “Rural Welfare Re search Institute." The Institute works in cooperation with an experimental farm which lias been equipped and stocked by church people of Iowa and California. Problems which are being faced by the Institute include the need for greater food production for a country which is greatly overpopulated tas is Japan), and the improvement of fanning techniques and village living conditions in the rural areas of the nation. Cooperating with the Institute are the Japanese ministries of education, welfare, agriculture and forestry; farmers’ cooperatives, 4-H chit) organizations, PTA's, rural health centers, and many Christia i mission stations.
