Bill Jenncr was born in 190S in Marengo Indiana (Crawford County). Educated in Marengo public schools. Central Normal College (Danville, Indiana) and Indiana University (graduated in 1930). Graduated from Indiana University Law School, became Bedford attorney, 1932. • At 26. elected to Indiana State Senate in 1934. GOP Minority Leader, 1937. '38. '39. Majority Leader. 1941. At 27, keynoted Indiana GOP State Convention. 1936 • Volunteered for Anny Air Force in 1942. year his son was bom. Served overseas. Discharged as Captain. When only 36, nominated and fleeted in 1944 (without his knowledge, while still in Anny Mr Force) to serve unexpired term of late V. S. Senator I an Nuys—hy record margin of 81,833 votes. • Still only 36, he was elected Indiana GOP State Chairman and Midwest Director of Veterans Activities, GOP National Committee, 1945. • At 38. Jenner elected in 1946 to full term in U. S. Senate, nation s first veteran of World War II to be so honored. • He is a member of the Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge. Scottish Rile. American Legion, VFW, Eagles, Moose. Elks, Modern Woodmen of America, etc. He lives on a 160-acre farm near Bedford.
