First stop being at Kingan’s Packing ] Co There we were able to see tattle and hogs slaughtered. Then as the carcasse- proceeded by overhead track, through all the stages of butchering, and into the cooler. Next was the cutting and trimming of meat, after twenty-four hours in the cooler. There were huge rendering vats for lard and waste fats. In all departments there were government paid inspectors at work at all times. Next stop was Ayres, where we had a delicious lunch in the tea room. Then downstairs to st( Layout of room plans, which fit in very well with our lessons on color in the home. Next was West Baking Co., where we were shown through all departments from flour storage room, preparing of sponge, then mixing of dough to machines that form the loaves, rolls, buns etc. Saw them putting the pans into the oven > to bake, and the removing of baked bread from the ovens. From there to the cooling, slicing and wrapping room, and so ready to deliver in their many black and orange trucks. The last stop was at Central hospital, where we were conducted through one wing of the women s building. It was all very interesting, and we felt, well worth anyone’s time seeing these places or any of a number of other places that are open in our capitol city. XX uMilngtiin P. T. A.
