In the Appropriation Act of 194f>, the General Assembly requested the state colleges and universities “to cooperate In working out a formula to be presented periodically to the legislature and any other propel authorities for budgetary purposes. To this end, an intar-institution al study committee was appointed last year by the presidents to make the necessary financial and statistical studies. The report of this committee enabled the four presidents, after many meetings, to reach complete agreement on a fair and equitable appropriation formula, and the budget requests for 19511853 were presented under a cov ering letter signed by the font presidents. Appropriations requested for eaeh year of the cmr' ig biennium, starting next 1, ar< as follows: Indiana University, $10,500, 000: Purdue University, $10,250,000; Indiana State Teachers College, $1,585,000; Ball Star Teachers College, $1,585,000 These requests compare with the current appropriations made at the 1849 legislative session which were as follows: Indiana University, $7,378,.'12• , Purdue University. $7,650,000 Indiana Stale, $1,105,000, am Bell State, *1,103,600.
