Golden Circle ( lul> Met Sept. 22 The Golden Circle Club of Washington tr .mlup met at the j home of Mrs. I-elia Fellows i.i Manhattan on Sept. 22nd. At the noon hour a deliclou pitch-in dinner was enjoyed by fifteen members and eight guests. The -Jjysffl .s meetings opened with the club song and j the Lord’s "Prayer in un. on. D< votions were read by Marie Craft. Roll call was answere ! | with the name of a one dish meal. Secretary and treasurei report was read and approved, new and old business was discussed. It was approved by all that a gift of $5.00 be presented to the polio drive. A letter was read by the Cheer Guild sponsor, Mrs. Gray, on the Riley breakfast to be held at the Murat Temple at Indianapolis Oct. 7th Plans were made on preparing the Christmas box. Surgery towels were passed out to members to be hemmed and returned at the next meeting. Mrs. Dovle Taylor presented the hostess with her hostess gift, a Bissel sweeper. Mildred Hinote was chosen gift chairman for the October meeting, to be with Tressa Rissler. Meeting closed

Thi Philomath Club of Roachdale I gan the ne.v year's work with a luncheon meeting held at The Old Trail Inn. Thursday September 15th, with 25 members and one guest present. Members of the program committee were hostesses: Mrs. Paul Sutherlin, Mr Osborne Hutchms. Mrs. Glenn Irwin and Mrs. Stewart Hostetter. At roll call the members displayed a family treasure or an arly salt cellar and a brief history of each was given. Following the business session Mrs. Fred Ixickridge presented a very interesting paper on 'The Story of Salt,” which was supplemented with her lovely collection of early salt cellars. The new president, Mrs. Kdgar Duckworth presided. Other new rfficers are; Mrs. Ward Porter, Vice-president. Mr. Eugene Hutchins Corresponding secret-
j ary, and Mrs. Alton Byrd secret-ary-treasurer. •J* -h "F Clinton Club Met With Mrs. Wlchman The Clinton Homemakers Home Economics Club met at the home of Mrs. Robert Wichman Sept. 13. Mrs. Gerald Clodfeller opo’.ed the meeting with the group singing the song of the month "A Merry Life.” The roll call was many useful hints on lunch box suggestions. The lesson of the meeting was program planning. New officers were elected for the coming year as j follows: President, Mrs. James Nicholson; vice president', Anna Mae Sutherlin; secretary, Mary Vermillion and treasurer, Doris Kirkpatrick. At the close of the meeting the hostess served very fine refreshments. The October meeting will be held at Mrs. Wayne Bettis' at 1:30 p. m. •F - + + + Family Reunion, Birthday Party A fa ijily and birthday reunion was held Sunday, Oct. 2 at the ionic of Mr. and Mrs. Hughie Postin. There were around 80 relatives and friends present to jnjoy the day. At noon a bountiful! pitch-in dinner was enjoyed by all. The afternoon was spent in talking and playing of games. •J* + + "F .'arrull Priest Honored Mil li Party A surprise birthday party was given for Carroll Priest, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. K. Priest of Brick Chapel on his 10th birthJay Saturday evening, Oct. 1st. The guests were assembled in the living room when Carroll and his daddy returned' from Green--•astle. As Carroll entered the front door they sang Happy Birthday to a very surprised boy. After the many lovely gifts were unwrapped and admired, games were played on the lawn. Refreshments of pink and white brick ice cream, wafers, Hallowe'en candy and coca cola were served. East Marlon Home Economics Club met at the home of Elsie Cowgil, Sept. 23. with Daisy Williamson as assistant hostess.
