A p pular accessory is a sports shirt that must never match the color of the jacket. This shirt is worn either open at the neck, without a tie, 01 with one of those new-style offairs that scream to heaven in their terrible designs and coloi combinations. Let ne repeat: If you want tc look like a typical tourist never wear any two garments that match. If you do, you are not 1 tourist. Now for the ladies. We als< stayed at the Guateau Frontena. In those days one dressed foi dinner in the hotel's main dining room. Meti did not all wear tuxedos, ut a. least they wore dark suits, ..ack shoes, subdued ties and .chit: shirts and collars. The women wore dinner dress•4, and there was always a smattering of evening gowns and tuxedos.

Not these days! Apparently the most popular dinner attire for the female tourist is ANYTHING. Last night we even saw one woman in slacks. However, with them she wore high-heel ballroom slippers and alxmt a pound of costume jewelry. There were some women in dinner dresses. But they were escorted by males in sports jackets and sweaters. Now please don’t think for a moment that I am making fun of the new styles in tourism. Personally I like informality. I think it is fine to travel in the raw and not even have to shave

for dinner.

It does away with a lot of extra luggage and it makes even a stay at the best hotel as much fun as a camping trip and with-

out the flies.

But it certainly stamps us as the typical "American tourists!"
