Sept. 19 (INS) Purdue University agronomists today advised Hoosier farrJrs on crops to be used in place of the reduced wheat acreage allotments.
Winter barley was advised for farmers in the southern half ut the state, but was described as "not sufficiently winter hardy' for northern Indiana in most cases. Spring Barley is adapted only to northern Indiana. Winter oats also should be restricted to the southern third of the state, while rye can be used throughout the state. Alsa spring oats was suggested as a logical crop to supplement wheat land.
