The thought came to me las-i | factories i lit when we were guests at

But. naturally, when the host i d that little thing for his wife, at could I do but join him in

My wife looked at me for a. i iment as if she thought I war. . tying a trick on her—probably » thought I pulled out the i ‘air so that she wratld fall i wn.I Sometimes I have that ”d of sense of humor.) Just look at this item. It *- ■> oni a story reporting the wedling of a nice little girl wh-> works in one of our nearby

Then came the complicated nry of spoons and knives and ■ ks that I have never neon able unpuzzle, no matter now often read the etiquette columns. I read this to my wire (wltn 'ri per intonations, of course) md asked: “Isn’t this utterly ,i olisii and just a lot of snob-

"Of course not,’’ she replle I oiiglitily, “T hat sort of thing means a whole lot to a bride, md a lovely wedding makes for |

Whereupon I commented: “Has our marriage been any lesshappy just because you wore n ■ample street outfit at our twodollar wedding, in.ste».» or a •scalloped veil of French illu-

She mumbled something I iidn't quite get, but it was aimothing about having no t >- mance in my soul.
