OBITUARY Herbert Alvora Robinson, son of Horace R. and Mingle R. (Wise) Robinson was horn in East Marion Twp., Putnam Co., Indiana. April 12, 1916. He attended grade school and graduated from the Fillmot High School. He was married to Mary Elb Miller of Greencastle on Dec.. 29, 1936. To this union o te child was born. He was employed several years by Curries’ Tin and Furnace Shop. After war was declared and the demand for help on Uie different government projects, he worked on jobs over th** slat*- until he was called to the service. He entered service Jan. 13, 1944 ami took his basic training at Camp Blanding, Florida. He left the States in June 1944. He was in th* 8Sth division known as the “Blue Devils”. He was a member of th* 350th Infantry and was in some of the hardest fighting in Italy. Hwas Wounded his 5th day in action, October 13. 1944. For this he was awarded the PurpleHeart. He was confined to the hospital for about six mouths. He returned to his outfit and on his second day in action, April 16. 1945. (hiring the fighting around Di Sotto, in the Po Valley He met his death. He leaves to mourn his loss, a daughter, Betty Lou Robinson, the mother and father, six brothers. John, Ralph, Robert, Edward, Herschel of Putnam I county, Raymond of Renova, Pa., two sister. Elise, at home and Mrs. Leo Curtis of Coatesville, Ind., also 2 nieces and 2 nephews. Alvora saw his duty and did it. Hi- could have stayed home with his family but when he was called he answered. If he could be here and pray with us today perhaps his prayer might be the same as that in the diary of Pvt. Morgan J. Quinn, who was killed in action, April 30, 1945 at Carpane, Italy . “Please God, silence the scheming and the stupid in outgovernment and lot the honest and strong lead us right.
