Miners Return For 3-Day Week PITTSBURGH, July 4 (UP) The nation’s coal mines went back into operation today as the 480,000 iiembers of the United Mine Workers ended their annual 10-day vacation. But miners in the soft coal pit: east of the Mississippi River were under orders from UMYV President John L. Lewis to work no more than three days a week nntil a new contract is signed.
