TVI'IKV \I.I -AMKKH' W CAKKKK <ilKI. WKIIDINO Thr recent wcdUinff of a young couple with an Indiana background is tne phota-featuro relected to typify the All-Ameri-can career girl wedding in the inaugural issue of the new magiinne "Modern Undo." Mr. and Mrs. .lohn Fletcher McClure are the couple. the groon being the son of Mr. and Mrs. Horace R. McClure, of Indianapolis. The rei'ent benedict was a wartime Army flier and is now studying law at Northwestern University, Chicago. His bride, the former Lois lean Ashbeck. once a radio Quiz Kid and now embarked on a merchandising career tn a Chicago department store, is the daughter of William L. Ashbeek. The young couple met at DePauw University, when they were students at the outbreak of the war. When Mr McClure interrupted his college career to enter the Ar.ny. their romance vas by no means suspended, although its logical outcome wes somewhat delayed. When it tinally arrived at the end of last May, all the ushers were Delta Kappa Kpsilon fraternity broth-

ers from DePauw.

The feature story was prepared by Marjorie Binford Woods, who for three weeks, last Januuryhad been interviewing couples contemplating marriage. She was seeking a typical All-Ameri-can girl who planned to make n genuine career of marriage, but who would eontinue at her job after the wedding Then she met up with Miss Ashbeek and knew her quest was ended.
