ERICH BRANDEIS Everybody is talking about inflation these days. Do you know that there are two kinds of inflation? 1 learned about one kind in college; the kind everybody is talking about. You pay big prices for everything and, as they get bigger and bigger, inflation conies. Sometimes the balloon busts. Then there is a panic like the one we had in 1031. That's really all there is about that type of inflation. Now to the other kind. I call it the delicatessen-type of inflation, because my wife learned about it from our delicatessen man’s wife. And would you believe It? I think there is more to the deli-catessen-type than to the college, type of inflation. Del me describe the delicates-sen-course very briefly. My wife gave it to me at breakfast this
morning. She bought some cold corned beef, some beef bologna, a dozen eggs, a half pouna *f butter and a half pint of cream at the delicatessen storr yrsterday. As she put down her money, she said to the owner’s wife, who is also the cashier: "Do you know I used to be able to buy a whole comipany dinner for that amount of money?”
The lady at the cash register nodded her head and said: “Sure you used to be able to get five or six times as much for your money. “But I remember when 1 was young. "Dad used to come home Saturdays with his weekly wages of twelve dollars for which he had worked six days, nine or ten hours a day. “ We were quite a big family' and that twelve dollars didn’t go far. "So we were always broke at the end of the week, and Dad considered himself a failure. "Nowadays it’s different. A fellow works seven or eight hours a day, five days a week, and comes home with seventyfive dollars. ' "He doesn't get any more f"“ his seventy-five than our father did for his twelve. "But seventy-five is still more than six times as much as twelve, so the fellow considers himself a big shot. "At the end of the week he is

just as broke as my father used to be, but being broke on seven-ty-five a week makes a man feel much more Important than being broke on twelve." So there you arc. That is the other kind of inflation, the inflation of the Ego. I like inflated egos. They make for progress. They make people feel big. And when the right kind of fellow feels big he is ready to do big things. Thus endeth today's lesson in economics. KKAI. ESTATE TRANSFERS Mary R. Allen, ctal to Paul M. THAT JIM ZEIS Most any fellow would drive 500 miles to get kissed by Linda j Darnell! Now that the 19-19 Speedway race is recent history, we can center our attention on some important early American history Fourth of July and the Declaration of Independence. Have you noticed how thus ■ Communists on trial in New York are taking advantage oi every legal loophole this country offers although at the same lini - they arc trying to overthrow tli U. S. form o’f government. It just doesn’t make sense. Buddy Boston, son of a former superintendent of Grcencastlc schools, chalked up a holc-iu-on< at the Country Club golf course Tuesday afternoon. Buddy got his ace on the 165-yard No.,Five

Haven't heard of any boy or girl registering a complaint regarding the fact that school is out until September. As the poet said, “what is so lare as a day in June" especially in Indiana. As a hoy in First Ward, we re call going to the railroad stations on several occasions and watching the locals arrive. Nov.’, you go to the stations and watch the streamliners roar past. The new cement approaches to the downtown alleys are certainly a worthwhile improvement.

Mrs. Howard Buis left Greencastle Sunday and arrived in London, England, “safe and sound” Tuesday morning by plane from New York City. Ties is indeed the Modern Age. t Will wager that Harley Miller and Fred Pease were telling fish stories while drinking coffee yesterday afternoon.
Paul Wright says he has information that at least two youngsters in the Brick Chape! vicinity arc doubtful as to tinlocation of the town of Fillmore. For further details, we suggest you contact Mr. Wright.
