GLACIAL BOULDER M AKES MONUMENT FITCHBURGH, Mass. (UP) One of the strangest monuments in New England was created and dedicated to the power of nature. The monument, a 110-ton granite boulder perched atop Fitchburg's Rollstone Hill, bears a bronze plaque reading: “This boulder, carried by the last glacier from Mount Monadnock, N. H., to the summit of a hill whose name commemorat ‘s it, was for centuries a landmark to Indians and settlers. "Threatened with destruction by quarrying operations, it was saved by popular subscription and reassembled here, 192!*1930."
