Grade two, Mrs. Rockhill’s room, made a visit to the Colonial Hatchery, guest of Jean Kircher and her father and mother. Chinese Communists. Eleven were injured seriously. The students charged the government’s peace overtures were insincere and that it actually was preparing for continued civil war. They also demanded better living conditions and attacked "American imperialism.” After orderly parading, about 2,000 students went to a troop receiving center to distribute lit-
erature.
A Nanking garrison spokesman said the soldiers responded by attacking the students, whom they called Communists. The students then went to the office of Acting President Li Tsungjen to protest. The soldiers followed and attacked again, the spokesman declared.
