STRIKE CALLED OFF AKRON, O.. April 1. <UP>— A short-lived strike by 600 bus drivers and mechanics of,^ thtj Akron Transportation Company was called off early today. •; The strike, the fourth suett walkout by the CIO Transport Workers union in four ygarsf lasted only six hours. The company announced it had granted the workers a seven cent an hour raise. The union had been asking for a 30-cent raise! The new increase gives the drivers a wage late of $1.39 an hour and brings the mechantlcs' rate to $1.49 an hour. The union, which tentatively accepted the new contract, will meet tomorrow to obtain rank ami file approval. 1
