Fabrics were the lesson theme jgam this month with nylon being the kind discussed. Mrs. Eugene McVarland capably gave an interesting account of the les--on as she received it. teWing all about the history of nylon, its durability, its wearing qualities and its many uses. She went to much work to add to the interest of the lesson by making a scrap book of many articles made up nylon. She also had a clipping from the naval research laboratory stating that nylon thread is stronger than steel wire. Nylon often possesses a tensPe strength of 225.000 lbs. per square inch whereas steel wire of the same sixe seldom show as much as 150.000 lbs. per square inch. The stretching qualities of nylon wen- interesting and all had fun stretching some wisps of nylon that Mrs. McFarland passed out. Then came a triller. She showed a pretty cream colored glass. Next she put the glass in the center of the floor and stood on it: horrors it was flat but when she stepped off, the glass
came back in shape. It was made of nylon. The president had many things to discuss, such as pennies for friendship which are due by April, the assessment for the new proposed house for home economics students at Purdue, and tickets for the Vee Powell hat show. It was also voted to contribute to the Red Cross. This left the ways and means committee to call a special meeting soon, for they realize there s got to be some means but what s the way? Mrs. Estol Rowings of the committee reported the date for the rummage sale was the last Saturday in May. Mrs. Asa Duncan, a member of the 4-H committee, made a report of the meeting she attended at Attica last week. She reported a very interesting meeting and stated that Putnam county women were the farthest away yet had the most representatives there. Twenty-one ladies attended from Putnam county. Mrs. Duncan said the point was stressed that often times we do
not realize all that is expected of boys and girls in their work and that parents should read over cafefully with them their literature and programs so that they might help them.
The recreation committee took charge after the club prayer, reporting on the county meeting they atteryled and passing on some stunts and a musical question contest. Their leader there had told them to have a peaceful world we must have a happv musical world. Meeting a IJourned to meet with Mrs. Harry Tresner in April.
