North Dakota He died j obiuaiy 15, 1949 in the F-utnam „aunty Hospital where he had jeon almost two weeks. When still a small boy hi-> elks came to Indiana and he rejidcd in Hendricks and Putnam ouaties every since. Jake, as he liked to be called .i-ds a g( >d neighbor He was alvays ready to help when he was needed. He loved the simple tilings of life and enjoyed the great outdoors. He had planned to move from his present home to a new location and had made preparations for a sale wanting to have this sale, even, if he were still in the hospital. Ou June 19. 1937 he was united in marriage to Madonna C. Ram jo. She has been a close companion at all times and was with nm constantly during his last

illness.

He was a good husband And father. He was very fond of his three little daughters and wanted them to have the best things in life. A short time ago he united .vith the Greencastle Church of Christ and got to attend once although his health was failing He is survived by his wife, Madonna, three daughters, Nina Rutn, Lela Mae and Madonna Lee. Also his father and step mother and one brother, Dale Goodman of Bainbridge. three .sisters. Jeannette Bunten o c Greencastle, Nannie Goodman ol indianapolis and Sarah Zastrow . California. HE IS NOT DEAD 1 cannot say, and 1 will not say i'hat he is dead. He is just avay vith a cherry sr.ile, and wave of the hand, He has wandered into an un known land. And left us dreaming how very

Grade Schools Start Tourney Monday proved a big evening; In the local high school gymnasium as the grade school basketball tournament got underway with a big crowd in attendance. The youthful players were attired in all kinds of uniforms, including overalls, as the only requirement was that tennis shoes had to be worn. And some of t!i younger athletes had trouble determining just which bask-’t they were supposed to shoot a) during the game.
