"I enjoyed the remarks of the vice president. I think he rather hit the nail on the head when he talked about this split." All of this sounded very much like a warning to lagging congressional Democrats to get aboard the Truman program land wagon. The audience was !ouily enthusiastic. Tlie late KI>R undertook a nirge of balky Democrats tn 1938. He lost most of the batles but he won the war. From hat stormy Intervention in state nimary contests, Mr. Roosevelt Vent on to unprecedi nted per;onal political triumphs which lersisted lo the moment of I1I3

There were two Jeffersonlaeksou dinners here last night md Mr. Truman spoke at both if them, first at the Mayflo .- Hotel. He welcomed there all the Democrats, includes those he calls the "Wednesday Democrat-; who got into the parade on hearted or anti-Truman Democrats who gto into the parade on Wednesday, Nov 3, after the presidential vote was in. But the President had a warning note, too. ‘'I am just as sure as I stand here that the people are with un In our elTorts to implement the DemuiTHtic platform of 1948 Tliey believed us when we said we are intending to implement it, and they arc going to stay with us while we do it.”
