She Chinese Communist radio meanwhile warned the Unite 11 States against sending aid to the Nationalist government of Generalissimo Chiang Kai-shek, de-j daring it would “constitute armed aggression." {Madame Chaing Kai-shek, in a boardcast to the United States, urged that ‘‘immediate and definite” American aid be sent to China. She said the Nationalist military situation was “gravely, critical” and that the U. S. would suffer if China fell. (•‘With China’s strategic position. resources and manpower in Communist hands, you yourself j will be greatly weakened,” China’s first lady said in a radio appeal over American Broad- | casting Company facilities. “Il'i China falls, all of Asia goes.”) Dispatches from Peiping said a large Communist advam ■ guard had moved up to a point within 30 miles east of Peiping main government bastion in North China, and was threatening to cut Peiping’s supply cor ridor to Tientsin on the coast. The martial law order covered the five North China provinces of Hopeh, Chahar, Suiyuan, Jehol Im I Shansi. It provides for a midnight to 6 a. m. curfew in all government-held towns. The order, effective this morning. also calls for censorship of mail and cables, and tighter inspections at railway stations and airports. Strikes of any nature. whether by students workers, are prohibited.
