CUBS TO QUIT SOUTH CENTRAL CONFERENCE
Coach Tom Goldsbcrry announced Monday that OreencMtle high school athletic teams will drop out of the South Central Conference at the end of the| present school year. The Tiger Cub mentor said the main purpose behind this step would be to bring spring sporis closer to home and also enable the local school to build up a basketball .schedule of new teams. Under the new Indiana High School Athletic Association rules, tli Greencastle net teams can now play a full 18-game schedule and also take part in the annual Wabash Valley tournament, both preliminary and finals. Coach Goldsbcrry said this move on the part of the school will eventually result in such not teams as Jefferson of Bafayotb’, Clinton, Sullivan, Washington and other ‘‘new blood” being seen oi a tion here by local hardwood
court fans.

There were two thrills for the spectators in the last quarter. A1 Meng, who caught an Illinois forward pass thrown by Loui' Polizos in his own end zone raced 40 yards before a shoestring tackle by Torn Covey, DePauw guard, brought him down. Had Covey missed Meng would had clear sailing for a Wesleyan t. d. In the final minute. Vear intercepted an Illinois pass and raced nearly 45 yards to paydit but his tuchdown efforts were in vain as the officials mulhfied the play by ruling that DePauw had held illegally.
