PREPARATION FOR A GREAT meeting By Paul VI- Robinson "Prepare to Meet God. Amos
4:12.
Making preparation takes a very large scope. Just a short time ago a great alarm sounded throughout our whole nation and each American citizen was called upon to help prepare for war against an enemy that threatened the very foundation of our country. We are interested in Young People being prepared for their life work. This is a worthy goal for schools and churches and I public officials to look forward ’ to. Then again I see plans laid and buildings erected and organizations formed to prepare for business. Surely everyone is able to see that life in general is p. continuous time of making preparation. At this point we rail your attention to a kind of preparedness that reaches out yon- ! der beyond this earthly life into eternity. As important ns it is to prepare for meeting a nationj al enemy, preparing for one s I life work or a legitimate bus- ! iness. preparation in the highest ! sense of the word, is preparation , to meet God. This Is an all imj portnnt question, "Are You Prepared to Meet God." Meet Him I you muat, because all must stand before the judgment seat of, Christ. Here are three important
questions. Why? How? When? to prepare to meet God ? I. Why prepare to meet God? We have a right to ask questions and this is a good one. Our text gives us part of the answer. In Amos 4:12 We read this plain statement "Prepare to Meet . Thy God.’’ This is one of God's | eonunandmonts. So the first j reason we should prepare to meet God is because He commands it. God does not force us to prepare to meet Him but He makes us wish we had. Another reason why is that our condition demands it. Sin has separated us from God. "All have sinned and come short of the glory of God." Romans 3:23 "There is not a just man upon the earth, that doeth good and sinneth not.” All we like sheep have gone astray, we have turned every one to his own way." Ira. 53.6. Outside of Christ w< are lost and without God in thir world and without any hope of heaven. Several years ago I recal’ reading of a little boy in the city of Chicago who was lost for several weeks without anyone who hived him or knowing anything about him. This little boy’s parents and friemii were frantic because he was lost. Finally his body was found bearing the marks of two young Aien students of Chicago University who for a thrill had out the little boy in pieces. He 11 Wil Ihe full of this kind of people that could do such a horrible crime. But we w^nt you to see that the little boy was lost to the physical*- world. We are not only lost in a physical sense but in a spiritual sense if not prepared to meet God. "The Son of Man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.” Note further, “What is lost? Mark 8:36, “What shall jt profit u man if he shall gain the whole world and lose his own soul.” This is not a matter of Putnam county or Indiana but Christ says in substance if you gained the whole world it would be a bad deal if it was done at the cost of losing your soul. An old Confederate soldier tells of a young man dying on the battle field who had been j admonished by a Godly mother j before leaving home about spiritjtinl things and given a Bible. The J young man was asked if he was | afraid to die and made this reply, “No I am not afraid to die but I am afraid of what is beyond death." Jesus said, ‘‘Every man shall go to his own place when he leaves this world.” If lost he will be away from God. II. H»w To Prepare To Meet
God
Them was one time that you had to be honest with God if you are prepared to meet God today. "In the day that thou seekest with thy whole heart I will be found of thee.” Two definite steps are necessary in being prepared to meet God. 1. Repentance toward God. 2 Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. III. When To Prepare To Mccl
God.
There are limits beyond which you go, the battle for the soul is lost forever. Now is the time to prepare to meet God. "Boast not thyself of tomorrow thou knowest not what a day may bring forth.” John 3:36 "He that believeth in the Son hath everlasting life. He that believeth not the Son ■ shall not see life but the wrath of I God abideth on him."

Methodist churches throughout the United States will observe February 22, 1948, as "Laymen's Day". In the pulpit of many churches laymen will be the preachers and conduct other parts of the service on the occasion. The lay preachers arc asked by the Church’s Board of Lay Activities to speak on the topic, "Learning to Live the Christian Life”. This day has grown to be an annual occasion for lay expression in the Meth-
odist Church.
The World Alliance for International Friendship Through th" Churches is recommending to its large ministerial and lay membership that emphasis he given in all media of education to four facts often overlooked in consideration of "waging peace with food” to Europe and Asia: that i present food prices in America ' arc due to prosperity rather ^ than to shipments overseas; that only the immediate sending to I
