loffi Erich Brandos* A great honor has just been Conferred upon me. I have been made a Life Member of the National Dunking Association. The membership card certifies that,, from now on, I am "permitted at all times to dunk domits either in private or in public, without criticism or interference.” Enclosed with the card was a little folder entitled "Official Rules For Dunking,” including the secret grip which members are supposed to give one another, and the eight correct ways of dunking a donut. Some day. perhaps, when I have become a Junking expert, I may be made a charter member, among whom are such pe pic as Bing Crosby, Bob Hope, Jimmy Dorsey, George Jessel, Joe E. Lewis, Frank Sinotra, Jimmy Durante ajid Fibber McGee and Molly but until then I am only a Life Member.

MILWAUKEE, Sept. 5. - (UP) Rev. Daniel L. Huntwork, 37-ycar-old Baptist minister, looked at his calloused hands today and said it would be a good idea if more clergymen went into the ships and fields to work side-by-side with laymen. Huntwork just spent his month’s vacation in a factory earning $250 he had pledged to the Baptist World Mission crusade. He said the experience was worth much more to him than the money. Too many religious workers are losing touch with the everyday problems of the working man, he said.

Tile whole business is, of course, awfully silly and a publicity stunt for the donut manufacture,rs, but I think we do need much more silliness than we .enjoy in, these days of seriousness and ponderous problems. I have heard people say that our national clowns of radio,

While I am something of an amateur when it comes to dunking donuts, I am an expert at

dunking bread in gravy.

I simply cannot resist that nice brown liquid with which pot noast is covered or that fattening but luscious sauce without which no roast duck can possibly reach the height of perfection. Whether it be at home or In the home of friends or even in

I break my bread, spread some butteV on it, look around to see whether anyone is watching, and, at the right moment the bread, speared on the fork, goes in the gravy. I swish it ar(zuivd for a few seconds, give it a final pressure and, with eyes closed m blissful anticipation, the mess, sometimes dripping a bit, goes into my mouth.
