The Banner article stated. "Every effort is being made to get another well." That is News. WHERE??? Equipment and materials have been on hands for weeks to connect thc well that was drilled in the past year but for SOME CAUSE it had not been done until the past week. Citizens, generally, do conserve water at all times. However, it is not a matter of conservation on the part of approximately 50', of thc town, it is just a matter of NO WATER. Yes, the entire town is endangered from the hazard of fire. Furthermore, people are being forced to use water from wells that are contaminated and probably condemned by the State Health Dept. \ We wonder how much longer j the people of Cloverdale are going to stand by and endure this

condition.

Isn’t the water utility abligated to furnish water for the Town Aren't the citizens paying their monthly bills and even willing to pay the recent increase in rate? The complaint of the peopb j is iv t the cost of Water, it P ! the SUP-LY OF WATER. An.y water system may suf | for emergency in dry season, but this is not a seasonable emergency. It is normal. Let’s .vake up Cloverdale and | remand some action before we * have cause to regret a disas- ! trous fire or a serious epidemic

WHEAT NOTES Hoosier wheat growers wh are troubled with stinking strUit disease in their wheat fields this year can avoid future damage bv proper seed treatment, advises Dr. E. G. Sharvelle of the department of botany and plant pathology, Purdue University. Seed treatment with New Improved Ceresan, a mercury dust, is a. “must” in areas where stinking smut is known to be present, Sharvelle warns. The Purdue research worker pointed cv.lt that dusting seed wheat with New Improved Ceresan costs only a few cents and may save thousands of dollars worth of wheat for the Indiana farmer. The dust is available in many seed and cliug stores. Stinking smut is not easilydetected in the field since infected heads look somewhat like healthy heads. However, when they' are threshed, instead of containing sound kernels, they hold small grey balls which are filled with thousands of bla k smut spores of tile mut fungus. Healthy seed becomes contaminated when "bunt balls' are broken during threshing. The smut
