MILK BANK PLANNED JACKSON VILE, Fla. (UP) a— Doctors and nurses are canvassing all maternity wards to get donors for a mother’ milk bank. Dr. D. W. Rogers, city health officer, predicted that 25 to .15 Jacksonville babies can be saved this year if any emergency supply is kept in the city’s new

deep-freeze unit.

Killer Asks For The Electric Chair CHICAGO, Aug 1—(INS) — Joseph Bortnyak, the 27-year-old confessed kidnapper and strang-

| won’t do it again.’’

State’s Attorney William J. Tuohy promised speedy justice in the crime, and indicated he would ask for the electric chaif for the Chicago laborer, a convicted sex offender.

CHICAGO, Aug. I—(UP) — Psychiatrists attempted to leant today how a mad urge drove Joseph Bartnyak; 27, to strangle three-year-old Charles Bradley just nine days after his release on good behavior from a year in prison for a sex crime against another child. State's Attorney William Tuohy said he probably would seek the death penalty for Bart nyak. a slim, wiry factory hand who was dishonorably discharged from the navy for forging leave papers. Dr. Harry Hoffman, Illinois State alenist who probed the mental processes of sex-slayer William G. Heirins last year, said he did not believe Bartnyak's and Heirns’ cases were

“I am going to make a detailed study of Bartnyak's mentality today but off-hand I would not say he was driven by the same urge as Heir.ens,’’ Hoiffman said. "Heirens suffered from a sex urge. This appears to be some other sort of drive-to-kill.” Bartnyak confessed late yesterday that he stole the handsome little boy from the middle class home of his parents. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Bradley, as the boy's lather chatted with neighbors on the front porch. Bradley had checked and found his son sleeping peacefully just 15 minutes before Bartnyak stole the child from his bedroom. The boy’s mother works nights. Bradley called her from her work after the child disappeared. Bartnyak said he found the boy sleeping nude, because of the Intense heat Wednesday night. The boy stirred hut never completely awakened, he said. Bartnyak said he "talked to the the baby and petted It" while carrying him through analley to | the .rear stoop of a house across I the block. i "After a few minutes holding [ thebaby, I was seized with a desire to choke him,’’ he sard. “He I was sitting onk my lap and I put | my hands around his throat and |

choked him.”

The child’s body was found under the steps where Bartnyak

placed him.

He said he did not molest the ' child sexually. An autopsy tentatively confirmed his statement but police said further investigation, would be necessary for posi-, live proof. i Bartnyak said he had dnunk ! almost a gallon of whiskey, beer and wine before the urge to kill j

took hold of him.

After the slaying he wandered | the streets of the west side neigh- ! borhood for a short Lime, ate several hot dogs, and then slept' in a parkway until it was time for him togo to his work at a nearby factory. | He was arrested at the factory 1 yesterday afternoon. Police had sought the child since his father found him missing from his bed about mid-) night.. Authorities were led to suspect Bartnayk after a detec -1

that he had
