But with all their talents, all j their money, all their trappins. |i they are all subject to the laws of nature and not one of us can j escape the ultimate, common ,
destiny.
Oh, yes. there are ’•uncommon”' men and women. I Toni ny Mnnville is an uncom-1 mon, man. Stalin is one. A1 [ Capone is another. Thomas Edison was an uncommon man. Henry Ford is one. Ernest Heming-.vay is another. Ruth Snyder, the murderess, war. an uncommon woman. Eve Cl ric is uncommon. Florence Nightingale was uncommon, and so is Mrs. Cornelius Vanderbilt. Some of these are dead What are they today?

My hat is off to Mexico! The Mexican Congress is gn-'!J ing to do away with the "mer-|o ilida” by passing a law that any “mordclone” who is reported to the police will go to jail.
“Mordida” is Spanish for “bite," and a “mordelono” is th ■ fellow who puts the bite on you. It is a picturesque expression for a practice which is just ns widespread in the United States as it is in Mexico, and it wouldn’t be a bad idea if something were done about the American “moidida” and the American “mordc-
lones.”
There have been many complaints down in Mexico that gov eminent employees have a genius for making the simplest procedure take months unless they are permitted to sink their teeth into people for a "mordida.” The cost of living, according to dispatches, has gone up and up, because, wherever you turn, y )u have to satisfy the “mordelono". or you can’t get what you want. Hi
To The Voters:
Some are still being purposely misinformed as to my rucord. 1. When the Governor’s Widows Pension Bill passed the Senate on Feb. 1st, 1945, I was ill at my home in Bainbridge as Dr. Veach’s record will show. r \ s 2. The $100,000 appropriated for the purchase of tFie Governor’s Home and furnishings was in the Biannual State Budget Appropriation bill and the matter of purchase was left entirely to the discretion of the State Budget Committee, composed of two Democrats and two Republicans. Every appropriation to carry on all state business was in this budget bill and it was passed by a unanimous vote. (Page 467 Acts of ’45). 3. I was not on the committee to which was referred the Soldiers Bonus bill, and had no opportunity to take any action on the bonus bill. 4. I have been publicly criticized for voting for the Indiana World War Memorial Building measure, which reads as follows: ‘‘To provide for its completion according to the original plans adopted by the trustees of the Indiana War Memorial, appropriation of money for the c ompletion of such plans for the erection and maintainapee thereon of suitable structures to commemorate the valor and sacrifice of soldiers, sailors and marines of the United States and all who have and are making sacrifices at home and over seas in the World Wars I and II and to establish headquarters for all patriotic organizations”. I am proud I voted for this bill. What would you have thought of me had I not? You mothers and fathers, young men and women who made such tremendous sacrifices? When even a nation, state or citizen fail to recognize and honor its heroes whether living or dead they have fallen into a hopeless position.
