TREMOR REPORTED EAST ST. LOUIS. Mo., Get. 8 (UP) A brief earth tremor, bordering on an earthquake, shook southeastern Missouri and a small area of Southern Illinois last night, but no damage was reported. Ross Heinrich, St. Louis University seismologist, said that the school's seismograph showed a “moderate borderline earthquake" centered about 72 miles south of St. Louis between Fredericktown. Mo., and the Mississippi river. The tremor occurred at 7:12 P. M. (CST) and lasted for a period of five to 10 seconds. Robert E. Edson, Red Cross disaster service chairman of the midwest area, said there had been no reports of damage or injury.
