To test her memory. at the age of sixty she took a teacher's examination ard was issued a llcen«e. When seven of their eight children were born, Mr. and Mrs. H, ndrix decided they wanted to rear their family on a firm. They therefore returned to Indiana and purchased a 109 acre farm on State Road <0 In P,.itnam County near Reelavill*.', Here they resided for forty years. When. Mrs. Hendrix's health failed they bought a small home on East Kruzan S^. in Biazil and retired from the farm. Although they are both nearing their eighty-fourth birthday, Mr Hendrix is able, because of his restaurant experience, and good health vo cook for himself and his invalid wife, take care of his yard, tend a small garden and a few flowers. He also finds time to do quite a bit of reading and keeps up on current events.
