News Of Boys WITH THE 14TH ANTIAIRCRAFT COMMAND ON MINDANAO— Ralph L. Records, son of Mr. and Mrs. S. E. Records, residing at 108 East Berry St, Grencastle, Ind., was recently promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant in. an Antiaircraft Artillery Automatic Weapons. Battery in the Southwest tPacific

Area.

After induction into service in January 1942, S-Sgt. Records trained at Camp Wallace and Fort Bliss, Texas, before being stationed in New York with the Eastern. Defense Command. In November 1942 he joined his present unit at Fort Sheridan, Illinois, and was sent overseas to Australia in October 1943. With a few months of acclimatization completed, he moved up to New Guinea and participated in several leandings there and in the Netherlands East Indies. His battery received a distinguished unit citation for exemplary antiaircraft action, and for “a high degree of courage in repulsing numerous enemy ground attacks while in, close support of front line infantry units.” He is also entitled to the Philippines Liberation Campaign Ribbon with one Bronze Star for taking part in an assault landing on one of the islands in the Philippines. S-S g t. Records attended Greencastle High School in Greencastle, Ind. Prior to enterin the service he was employed toy Roscoe G. Scott Restaurant, Greencastle, Ind. His wife, Mrs. Ralph L. Records, is presently residing at 2270 North Meridian Street, Indianapolis, Indiana.

| His overseas tour lasted 20 months. He received the Air Medal, European Theatre ribbon and the Good Conduct Medal.
