WASHINGTON, Sept. 10 (UP) —Republicans again served notice today that they will demand equal representation on the joint Senate-House committee named to investigate the Pearl Harbor disaster from beginning

end.

House Republican Leader Joseph W .Martin, Jr., told the United Press that when this most controversial of current issues comes before the House, “we are going to fight for 50-50 representation.” The Senate already has approved a resolution by Majority! Leader Alben W. Barkley calling for a *25,000 inquiry by a ten-1 man committee. It provides for six Democrats and four Republi-1

cans.

Secretary James V. Forrestal earlier desclosed that he had offered an open court martial to Rear Adm. Husband E. Kimmel, former naval commander at Pearl Harbor, who with Maj. Gen. Walter C Short, Army com- i mander there in 1941, has long j been identified in the public mind I with the disaster. Furthermore, Forrestal said his department would comply with the senator’s request for the complete files. Whether Kimmel will accept the offer was not Immediately known. The Army has not offered Short a court marital.
