One reason for the Soviet's partial change of heart about religion inside its borders is the fimple fact that the attempt to etamp out religion proved a failure. And this discovery has been extremely well expressed by the Soviet Commissar of Education: “I find that religion is l.ke a nail; the harder you hit it (he deeper you drive it in."

Among the citations which comprise the Lesson-Sermon is the following from the Bible: “But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) And hath raised us up together, and made us pit together in heavenly places in

scales, end the wartime shortage of inspectors and dipping materials, at!' among the causes f»ir the continued existence of scabies," Dr. Floyd Cross, chairman of the committee said. "The condition :s present to an alarming
extent in the midwest.’’
"It is regrettable that a reservoir of this disease is being maintained anywhere in the nation, because after a long and costly campaign, it has been largely eradicated in the weather range states. If farmers in other areas wil! cooperate, scabies losses can be stopped in these
localities too.
"If sheep show loss of wool, formation of scabs on the skin, or a tendency to rub agamst fences and pens, the condition rhould be called to the attention of a veterinarian, who will help set up proper control measures. Scabies is a great liabilty to the sheep producers in several ways —through greatly diminished wool production, loss in body weight, general unthriftiness, and the death of the animals. In fact, the sheep industry cannot be profitable where sheep scab-
ies exists.
“Sheep scab is caused by a small mite, barely visible to th.* unaided eye, and can be brought under effective control if farm ers cooperate in* taking proper measures against it.”
POULTRY NOTES Warm weather tends to make laying hens uncomfortable, says M. E. Jackson, Purdue University Extension Poultry.nan. The air in a hen house should change at least once every three minutes during the warm weather. When the windows are closed this is impossible, in which case either open or remove them entirely. If it is impossible to ventilate the house this way, open the door and let the hens outside. Th o y enjoy being out on good green grass and this will also cut feed costs. When an unpleasant odor is present in the hen house, it is time to provide ailditional ventilation. The hens will thank you with eggs for increasing their allowance of good fresh air.
