Mr. and Mrs. Vern Sigler, Greencastle, R. 1, received the following letter from Pfc. E.
Lowell Wiatt.
Somewhere in Italy. Hello Tom and Ona, I guess it is about Unit for me to drop you a line. I’m slow about writing back, but I think
of you often.
1 received your Christmas greeting card and very glad to get it. I received one from Mr. and Mrs. C. Burk yvsterday. Someone elese I’ve been going to write, but haven't. I guess you had a nice Christmas, I hope you did. For me, we had a very good dinner, yes, we had turkey with about all tht trimmings, one thing 1 did eat too much. I didn’t feel so good that evening, but of course I never did do that on Ona’s wonderful pumpkin pies. I sure would like to go fishing with you this spring, but I guess that will have to wait ’till about the spring of forty-seven. Oii'e thing, I know Clinton township is a wonderful place. You can't sell me on the old world. The more I see of thy old world the better I like the new. 1 have spent five days in Romt just looking the place over, so I’m sending you a picture of us. We were together around seven hours, and we sure had fun
talking.
I have been overseas nineteen months today. It has been about twenty months since I saw you. Say ‘‘hello” to Mrs. Sigler. Where are Major and Mrs. Sutherlin, and how are they? Right now things don't look too good on the western front, those rats can sure fight. I gu' ss I’ll close my short letter.
So long, Lowell.
