Tiger Cubs Double Score On Martinsville; Old Gold Shades Indiana Team, 51-50

Creencastle's Tiger Cubs -administered a sound spanking to thu Martinsville Mgh school basketball team Tuesday night in the local gym, doubling the score on the visitors and winning 34 to 17. The Cubs were a decidedly “cold" team in the first quarter being unable to find thv range and the Artesian City outfit led 8 to 4 at the end of the opening eight minutes of play. During the second period, the locals began to "thaw'’ a little and finally forg' d into a 12 to 9 advantage at the half. Coming back in the third frame. Wayne Shonkwiler staged n one-man blitz as he sparked the Greencastle quintet offense I with 9 points and the Cubs wvre ahead 25 to 14 at the three1 quarter post. j Maintaining their tight defense .which allowed Martinsville only 8 points during the entire second half, the Greencastle aggregation went on to win, 34 to 17, with Coach Fred Fechtman sending in a host of substitutes during the closing two minutes of competi-

tion.

Pat Buckner's guarding of Miller, elongated center for the Artvslans, was one o fthe main highlights of the contest. The Cubs had considerable trouble in finding the hoop on free throws and no doubt Fechtman will drill his proteges in
