Kirby Hathaway of f'oatesville is confined to the county -hosptial. Alice Shtfklan, 509 south Jackson street, is a patient in the county hospital. Frank Culadonia of Roachdale was admitted to the county hospital Wednesday. Dan Aker lias returned to his home at Reelsville from the Putnam county hospital, where he had been confined since July 1st, due to injuries.he received when he fell from a scaffold on a bridge.

BRAISED SHORT RIBS of Beef with VogetaWos 2 lbs. beef short ribs Flour 2 tablespoons lard 2 teaspoons salt 1-8 teaspoon pepper ’4 onion ’4 cup water 2 carrots ’6 grbon popper (If desired) 2 stalks celery Cut short ribs into individual squares and flour them. Brown slowly on all sides in lard, al-lowing"0-30 minutes for browning. Add seasonings, onion (minced), and % cup water. Cover closely and simmer for 2 hours. Add vegetables, cut small, and continue cooking for 30-40 minutes. Remove meat to platter, thicken the vegetable gravy with 1 tablespoon flour stirred into ft clip water. Serves 4 or 5.
