Callahan, Box 17, Greencastle, Jnd., an armorer, is rounding out his 20tn month of overseas duty with a 12th Air Force B-25 bombardment group, which entitled him to wear three gold bars on the left sleeves of his service coat, blouse, jacket and shirt. According to a recent directive by the War Department, each membei of the United States Army is authorized to wear an additional gold bar for each six months period spent overseas. Sergeant Callahan’s B-25 bombardment group has been fighting in the Mediterranean theater for twenty months, backing the attack through Tunisia, Sicily and Italy. At

PILE TO MAKE SCOOTER WASHINGTON (UP) —The ever ingenious Sea bees again uphold their reputation for making some-

thing out of nothing.

Two Seabees on a Pacific isle extracted a few odds and ends from the island junk pile to build an electric scooter, which they now are riding about in envied style and comfort. The scooter runs at more than 20 miles per hour and can cover 25

miles on a single charge.

announces, herewith, a postwar plan in the customer interest—a pro* gram of cooperation with all dealers and electrical and plumbing con* tractors handling, installing or servicing appliances using electric and/or gas service from Company lines. For the benefit of the customer, the Company will assist in making available to him a wider variety of appliances in a greater scale of price listings, than he has had in his community heretofore.

Until the war restricted production of new appliances, the Com* pony maintained sales forces and inventories of appliances for sale to the customer. In future, this will not be done. Instead, the Company will do everything in its power to distribute informa* i tion about appliances and directions for their proper use, and will cooperate with the local dealers or contractors who, in all cases, will do any and all actual selling. The Company will be alert to provide service, assist with installations where assistance is needed, supply home service experts for advice and instruction to the customers, and provide a financing plan where dealers or contractors and customers wish that done. More, the Company will conduct cooking schools, maintain model displays of kitchen and other utility equipment, and in general assist in standardizing sales methods for the customer's benefit.

Through June, July and August, the Company sponsored a series of meetings with local dealers and is glad to report they seem unanimously interested in the cooperation program. Their feeling, too, is that it will be useful in establishing for the customer a better all-around service than he has.ever had. Additional information on this cooperative program in the customer interest wifi be published in this newspaper before, and after, the postwar reappearance of household appliances on the market.
